Whether or not to wear a bra to bed is still a debatable question. Studies have been conducted to find if sleeping without a bra (or going braless whole day) causes sagging. And also if sleeping in them cause any damage to your health. The experts are of contradictory opinions on this subject.
If you see it from the scientific point of view, sagging is caused by the pull of gravity on the mass of your breasts. That is why bigger breasts sag more, as there is more fat within the tissue for gravity to work on. Actually when you are lying down, the effect of gravity pushes your breasts back towards your chest, instead of down towards your toes. So wearing a bra – a bra’s main purpose is to support your breasts, especially from below- is essentially redundant in bed as breasts naturally compress back towards the chest. Based on this gravity logic, prolonged periods of lying down will prevent your boobs from sagging, regardless of your wearing a bra or not.
What about other health implications an allnighter in your bra can have? (THE CONS)
- First of all, if your bra often leaves impressions on your skin for being too tight, then wearing it 24/7 won’t give the skin a chance to recover and bounce back. And this will lead to long-term indents in the tissue.
- Secondly, apart from the tissues, there is a lot going on by way of anatomy around the chest area- from muscles to blood vessels, and lymph nodes to nerves. In fact, if your bra is too tight, you may be restricting your blood supply to the breasts and surrounding areas. The same goes for the lymphatic system. A tight bra may restrict the flow of lymph to the lymph nodes around the breasts and armpits hindering the systems vital function of flushing toxin waste products from the body.
- Moreover sleeping in a high support or underwired bra can be very uncomfortable. And this can also affect the quality of your sleep.

CAN YOU WEAR A BRA TO BED – VERDICT
